For this Lesson Module, the global network, ePals was chosen.
Connecting with a Global Classroom:
In order to connect with a global classroom, an educator has to register on the site.
Once registered, educators can create a classroom profile. When creating your classroom profile, it is best to add as many details as possible. For example, how many students are involved? What would you like to do? What would you like students to learn?
Once your profile has been completed, teachers can search for projects through the following ways: Classroom Profiles, Countries, Project, or the Teacher Forum. This provides many different avenues for teachers to connect classrooms. I found searching by the Project (Digital Storytelling) to be the best method. Through this method, I was able to view various ePal classrooms looking for a partner school. I was able to read descriptions prior to determining if I would like to connect with a specific classroom.
Within this area, I could respond to a post created by another teacher asking to partner up or to provide more information about what they would like to accomplish through the project prior to deciding to collaborate with them or I could post a note of my own inquiring about the possibility of collaborating with another classroom for the digital storytelling project. Within my post, I am sure to include how I would like to adapt the project into my classroom in addition to the number of students that would be participating.
Participating in a global network community requires educators to be flexible so that successful global integration and collaboration can occur in the classroom.
